100% of money donated is used to maintain this website offering free tab, to provide handouts to new players, and occasional advertising materials.

Here is some of the music you'll hear us playing. Before coming to a 3RDS jam, please print out the tunes on this page and bring them with you. That way, you can join in the fun!

The links below will bring up printable sheets of music. Our music usually includes both dulcimer tablature and standard musical notation, and it sometimes includes guitar chords as well. For some songs, we have both melody and harmony parts, and in some cases, MIDI files are also available. We have also combined several tunes into medleys. Many of the tunes on our website were arranged and tabbed by 3RDS members Ray, Chad, and Martha.

In a few cases, we have posted tunes that generous dulcimer players and teachers have given us permission to post, or have included links to favorite tunes on other websites (such as Everything Dulcimer). We have made every effort to credit the proper sources, and to only post tab for which we have been given permission, or of public domain songs for which have made our own arrangements.

At this time, we nearly always play in DAD tuning during jams, but we do use capos for some of the songs.

Check our Beginner's Page for more tips if you are just getting started.

We recommend printing these, putting into sheet protectors, and making an alphabetically arranged 3-ring binder.

You don't have to buy any books to come and jam with the Three Rivers Dulcimer Society, and there are no dues to be a member of the group. However, there is one book that we strongly recommend buying: Favorite Christmas Carols for the Mountain Dulcimer by Helen Johnson (the book with the red cover). This is the book that our group uses every year when playing Christmas carols and holiday tunes in the community, so if you want to play with us for those performances, you'll need to buy it. It has wonderful arrangements of Christmas/holiday favorites

Most of these books are friendly toward our non-dulcimer playing members and include standard musical notation (dots!) and chords. We’ve given at least one link to a site offering the book for sale, but these books are available in many places (including used book stores and ebay).

Handy tip for books with the glued bindings: For a nominal fee, an office supply store will cut off the glued edge and replace it with a spiral binding that lays flat and behaves much better on a music stand.

If you want to learn as many fiddle and jam tunes as possible, two books you might want to consider buying are Stephen Seifert's Join the Jam DAD Version and Join the Jam II. They contain many standard jam tunes that will prepare you for jamming with just about any dulcimer group. Beginning players can learn the tunes as written, and more advanced players can add their own variations and chords as they play.

Join the Jam DAD Version by Stephen Seifert
You can buy the book without CDs or the book with 3 CDs.

Join the Jam II by Stephen Seifert
You can buy the book here.

Members are encouraged to bring and share new music (legal copies only, though).
